Highball Glass Cocktails

The highball glass is a tall, straight-sided tumbler built for long drinks over ice topped with a mixer. Its height accommodates plenty of ice and a generous pour of soda, tonic or juice while keeping the drink cold and lightly carbonated.

The tall, narrow shape holds a full column of ice, which keeps a long drink cold and slows dilution, while limiting the surface area so carbonation lasts. That is exactly what a Gin & Tonic, Highball or Cuba Libre needs.

Long, iced, mixer-topped drinks — Gin & Tonic, whisky highball, Cuba Libre, Paloma and similar refreshing serves.

How drinks are included: Ideal for carbonated and refreshing drinks; the narrow bore preserves fizz. Very similar in role to the Collins glass, which is simply taller.

Highball Glass — common questions

What is a highball glass?
A tall, straight-sided tumbler for long drinks served over ice with a mixer — like a Gin & Tonic or whisky highball. The height holds plenty of ice and mixer while keeping the drink cold and fizzy.
What is the difference between a highball and a Collins glass?
They serve the same role — tall drinks over ice with mixer. A Collins glass is simply taller and narrower than a highball; the two are often used interchangeably.
Why are highball drinks served over plenty of ice?
A full glass of ice keeps the drink cold and, counter-intuitively, slows dilution — less ice melts faster. It also preserves carbonation in mixers like tonic and soda.
